Smoking Weed Can Lead to Better Sex
Good weed can make even the worst day better, but did you know it can also spice up your bedroom too? According to not one but two recent studies, smoking weed can lead lead to better sex!
People around the world have been using weed for a variety of reasons. From treating anxiety and depression to stimulating appetite and fighting against insomnia, weed is a universal medicine used since ancient times.
As more and more people engage with the plant for recreational purposes, the conversation has shifted to how weed can affect our more intimate, personal lives.
If these two scientific reports mean anything, then it might just be a good idea to keep some Mary Jane on your nightstand!
According to one study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, the more weed a woman smokes, the higher the chances of having a better sexual experience.
Another academic study, published in the Cannabis Journal, found that, unlike alcohol, weed had a positive effect on couples when they consumed it together. When consumed jointly, weed can increase the odds of intimacy and provide more opportunities for couples to bond.

To be more specific, they found that smoking weed increased the likelihood of sex happening, especially within two hours of consuming the plant. Researchers found that this intimacy boost occurred even if only one partner smokes up beforehand!
“There’s sort of four main aspects,” said Toronto sex and relationship therapist Carlyle Jansen.
“There’s CBD which reduces pain and discomfort, so that’ll make a difference for a lot of people. It also calms the nerves,” Jansen added.
“A lot of people take CBD for anxiety. Women often feel anxious around sex. We have concerns about our body and whether we’re going to orgasm, and whether our partner’s attracted to us. It helps us to not be so worried about whether we’re doing it right. All of those concerns.”
Jansen’s comments ring true, especially when you consider how many people actually use CBD to treat and control their anxiety.
“Then there’s THC,” Jansen added.
“This generally helps us to feel more relaxed, and again, this is key, to pleasure, arousal, satisfaction. The THC, which is the more euphoric part of weed, the more stoned feeling, that will impact how we have a conversation — having difficult conversations can make it a little easier as long as you’re not too far gone.”
However, the dosage is important. You can’t begin to appreciate the effects of this potent combination if you’re greening out!

“I’d absolutely start small (in terms of dosage), right?” said Jansen. “And when you take it orally, like an edible for sale, then it stays in your system for eight to 10 hours, so then it’s like a ride you can’t off of.”
When experimenting with sex and weed, it’s a good idea to start with something small and controlled, like a THC vape pen or a joint. Considering how THC metabolizes into 11-OH-THC when it’s eaten, you’re going to be high for a long time. This can be a good idea if you’re up for multiple rounds, but is probably not good if you want some cheeky afternoon delight.
“Some people have bad experiences … Go slow and just try a little bit at a time,” Jansen concludes.
Cannabis hits everyone differently. While it can be a great addition to the bedroom, it’s best to temper your expectations and start slowly at a pace both you and your partner are comfortable with.
If you’re not ready to smoke before doing the business, consider investing in some topical THC lube, instead. It won’t get you high, but it’ll excite the areas that matter!
